Our Mission
Cumberland Heights Church of Christ is a vibrant online community dedicated to spreading the Word of God, fostering spiritual growth, and building a strong sense of fellowship among believers. Our virtual services and online gatherings cater to individuals from all walks of life, providing a welcoming space for everyone to explore their faith and connect with others.

In our assemblies, we try to provide an atmosphere of warmth, love, and hospitality in which everyone can feel welcome and comfortable.
As we engage in worship, we try to do so in a spirit of love, praise, and reverence to God.
The Cumberland Heights church family makes no claims for itself. We are a diverse caring and loving group of people, coming from different backgrounds.
We worship together, stick together, laugh together, cry together, and allow God to use us to make a difference. We love the Lord, and enjoy our walk with him. - from Richard Haston

His Story

Cumberland Heights Church of Christ
This church family has been in existence for many years. Its meeting house was located on the old Bethlehem Cemetery grounds on East Bethlehem Road in White County. In 1994 John H Heisling donated a large tract of land to this church. This 9-acre tract is beautifully situated on the four lane Memorial Highway approximately 5 miles south of the city of Sparta, TN in White County.
In September 1997 the church signed a building contract with J&S Construction Company in Cookeville, TN for the first phase of its building program. The 6,300 square feet first phase unit had an auditorium with a 256-seating capacity, classrooms, nursery kitchen, and office/library to accommodate our growing family.
On January 1, 1998 the elders assigned a new designation for this church family - Cumberland Heights Church of Christ. While the name was new the church continues to embrace the age-old message of the Cross of Jesus.
The first phase of the building plan was completed in March of 1998. Dr. Steve Flatt, then president of Lipscomb University in Nashville, delivered the dedication sermon.
The church has experienced substantial growth since 1990 and continues to reach into the lives of families and individuals all around.
Douglas Downs has served as preaching minister since 1990.
Topher Wiles has served as family minister since 2025.
Meet the Shepherds
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. - 1 Timothy 3:1
Servants
Here are a few of the people who serve in specific roles in our church family!
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. - 1 Peter 4:10-11
